The silver plating on the instrument is about 90% intact with some wear where hand contact is made. The inner slide tubes are nickel alloy rather than brass. This is a well made cornet, with top sprung valves in excellent condition, comparable to Boosey and Besson models of the time. My guess is that it dates from perhaps the 1920's or 30's, but it could be later. The serial number is 2169, but there appear to be no available lists of serial numbers to refer to. The Orsi company today produces only woodwind instruments. Romeo Orsi company of Milan which was established in 1836. T his Bb Cornet is a vintage “High Class” Sovereign model made by the Prof.
