![]() ![]() I have purchased many third party libraries, but like to 1) Mix 'n match from multiple libraries from multiple companies. Let me start by saying I primarily use acoustic drum kits. However Kontakt has better routing, better mixer effects and allowed me to exceed the 128 cell limit of Battery by importing multiple Battery kits. Or if you like electronic kits it adds.Ĭlick to expand.IMO Battery's Cell GUI was much easier for me to create complex layers / velocity levels and roundrobin assigned to MIDI notes than Kontakt - especially with each cell having a unique processing of EQ, envelope, etc. 7) Better timestretching.īattery 4 is a fantasitic sample player for adding life / creating custom kits - if you like to create your own. The good part of Battery 4: 1) Drag n' drop 2) Browser 3) Much improved added effects 4) New Electronic kits 5) Buses 6) more flexible effects routing. Hopefully (with realistic optimism) both of those issues should be resolved soon. Technically that's a Kontakt issue, but creating custom kits for Kontakt was 90% of my Battery 3 usage. These should be there - they even have a picture of them in the Battery 4 web page.Ģ) New Battery 4 format doesn't open in Kontakt 5. The only issues I've seen functionally are stuff I'm either misunderstanding or waiting for future updates - these are:ġ) Effects presets drop down arrows are not appearing in my copy of Battery 4. There are a couple of new LE versions of the Drum kits from Studio Drums that are new.įunctionally, most of all the features in Battery 3 are in Battery 4, or they are improved. That said, if you own the Battery 3 library, Battery 4 will load all of those kits. Most of the Battery 3 acoustic kits, orchestral percussion and much of the ethnic percussion is gone - it appears NI is going to market Kontakt and sound libraries to cover this area in the future. The focus of Battery 4 library has changed to primarily be for electronic sound production. ![]()
